  • Hopeland – Linc Energy underground coal gasification groundwater and groundwater monitoring

    An underground coal gasification (UCG) pilot in the Hopeland area near Chinchilla, undertaken between 2007–2013. The operators, Linc Energy Pty, were found guilty in 2017 against charges of wilfully causing serious environmental harm. Since 2016, the department has been managing the site.   • PFAS site investigations across Qld

    Currently there are several state-wide Per- and Poly-Fluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) investigations being monitored by the PFAS Interdepartmental Committee across Queensland. Here you can find information on these investigations, and which organisations are leading them, access a range of resources and see the current community health alerts.

  • Salisbury–Moorooka odour investigation

    Community reports of odour in and around the Salisbury–Moorooka area have led the department to investigate licenced activities in the area. The community has assisted with canister sample collection. A potential source has been able to be identified and compliance action has been escalated.

  • Swanbank odour management

    There are several landfills and composting sites within the Swanbank and New Chum areas which are known sources of odour. The department has been investigating and responding to concerns raised by the community about odours, dust, and other environmental nuisance in and around these areas for several years.
