Fraser Island (K’gari) is the largest sand island in the world and is a place of exceptional beauty. Among its many striking features, the island is characterised by its long beaches, tall rainforest, coastal heaths, freshwater lakes and ever-evolving sand dunes.

The Butchulla people call the island K’gari which means “paradise”. The Butchulla people are the Traditional Owners and Native Title holders of K’gari and continue to hold strong links with the land and sea—their continued custodianship is critical to the conservation of culture.
