South East Queensland basins

Environmental values (EVs) and water quality objectives (WQOs) for surface waters of the South East Queensland basins waters were updated in 2022. They are included in Schedule 1 of the Environmental Protection (Water and Wetland Biodiversity) Policy 2019—the EPP (Water and Wetland Biodiversity).

Map

Waters extend from the Noosa Basin in the north to the South Coast Basin in the south and include adjacent coastal and marine waters. (Refer Overview map of South East Queensland basins (PDF, 1.1MB) ).

Supporting documentation

Please note that the following link provides information only. Please refer to the Schedule 1 documents in the tables above for the legislated environmental values, water quality objectives and mapping.

Sustainable Loads Modelling for SEQ Catchments

The Sustainable Loads Modelling for SEQ Catchments report (PDF, 36.0MB) supports information for the development of nutrients and sediments targets for south east Queensland (SEQ) catchments. The work parallels the development of basin targets under the Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan for each of the 35 Great Barrier Reef basins.

Of note, Sunshine Coast Regional Council provides an example of how the modelling can be calibrated and used for local scenario investigations. Please contact Sunshine Coast Regional Council for further information.

Spatial data

The spatial data shown in the plans can be viewed on Qld Globe and downloaded from Queensland Spatial Catalogue. Please refer to the policy page for details.
